Training

TIRAMISU DN provides strong interdisciplinary training for future European engineers and researchers driving the innovation of computing solutions for reliable and energy-efficient Edge AI chips. The project addresses boosting Europe’s capabilities and leadership in nanoelectronics, autonomous systems and artificial intelligence, as well as creating technology leaders and knowledge for the industry.

TIRAMISU training methodology follows the principles for European Innovative Doctoral Training and will focus individually on every recruited fellow, putting the personal Career Development Plans (CDPs) in the centre of the training methodology. Upon the recruitment phase, the training scheme starts with an orientation and initial training phase where also gaps in previous MSc-level education are filled and CDPs devised. Next, the researchers start doing focused IRPs at the host institution. The first secondments to partner institutions help fellows identify research requirements. Further interaction within the network helps with the self-evaluation of research results and cross-sectoral matching. Finally, the research is oriented towards publications and thesis drafting. In accordance with the internal regulations of each particular academic institution, the PhD thesis defence may be allocated beyond the 36-month duration of the fellow’s recruitment. Every doctoral candidate has an explicitly assigned personal supervisor and a cross-sectoral co-supervisor advising on the implementation of the IRPs.

TIRAMISU DN establishes an innovative four-pillar based training programme where different pillars complement each other:

Pillar 1: Research training through individual research projects.

Pillar 2: Complementary scientific training through training events.

Pillar 3: Complementary transferable skills training through training events.

Pillar 4: Additional training opportunities by existing curricula of the partner institutions.
